LAKEMORE: A veterans memorial statue that had stood in the village for 70 years has been stolen.
Thieves broke off the 3-foot, World War I doughboy statue at the ankles and made off with it Tuesday night, police said. The only section remaining are the soldier's feet.
Police believe the zinc sculpture, called Resting Doughboy, was taken by scrap metal thieves.

THE DUKE of Gloucester will unveil a plaque to mark the recent restoration of Weymouth's King's Statue.
Prince Richard - King George III's great, great, great, great grandson - will be visiting his relative's favourite holiday destination on Wednesday.
He will be welcomed by Weymouth and Portland Mayor Councillor Tim Munro before a tour along the Esplanade to inspect the recently restored Victorian shelters and lamps.
